Two Coronavirus Patients Die, New Case Reported
JEDDAH — Two patients suffering from Middle Eastern Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) died on Saturday, the Ministry of Health announced.
It said a new case of MERS coronavirus was reported on Saturday while and seven patients who had contracted the virus have recovered. The new patient is a 41-year-old health practitioner in Riyadh. Her health condition is stable.
The dead patients included a 29-year-old Saudi from Riyadh and an expatriate in his 40s who used to live in Hofuf in the Eastern Province. Six of the recovered patients are women.
The total number of MERS patients since the disease was first detected in the Kingdom in 2012 has reached 1,593. Of them 956 have recovered and 676 died, the ministry said, adding that 42 patients are under treatment.
