Thieves Face Amputation in Sharjah
A Sharjah Shariah court has ordered to amputate the hands of two Asians charged with stealing air conditioners, building material and industrial-use chemicals.
The two men, who confessed to breaking into a warehouse, will have their hands amputated since they are Muslims, the presiding judge said, and now need to hire a lawyer to defend their case, reported Khaleej Times.
However, since the accused do not have a lawyer, the hearing has been adjourned until the court appoints a lawyer for them, the report said.
In another case, a UAE national was charged by the court for stabbing, along with 12 other men, a 25-year-old national and a 24-year-old Arab, when a brawl erupted between them in Al Qasba area in Sharjah, said the news portal.
