‘Pray for us, Please, in Manila’: Resident Seeks Help as ‘Harvey’ LASHES HOUSTON
MANILA – Residents of Houston are calling for help and prayers after Hurricane Harvey battered the coastal areas of the most populous city in Texas, United States of America.
Speaking to ANC on Monday, Houston resident Murtaza Sutarwalla said a lot of people in areas hardest hit by the hurricane are still being rescued from their rooftops.
“We’re praying for them and trying our best to help them out, get them out of homes… A lot of rooftop rescues going on today,” he said.
“There was kind of a rescue for a family. They just had a newborn baby, and luckily, somebody was able to take them out of the house,” he added.
Sutarwalla said he has not seen a hurricane this strong since 2008. He said a heavy rains is still falling and a lot of areas are still flooded.
He said their group is preparing to respond to their basic needs once the weather returns to normal.
At least 3 people have been killed already while airports and highways remain isolated due to massive flooding.
“Prat for us, please, everyone in Manila. We really appreciate your prayers. Hopefully there’s no more deaths in this historic storm,” Sutarwalla said.
