BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN 22 October 2018 —  As part of its empowerment program for overseas Filipinos, the Philippine Embassy in Brunei Darussalam held its third Post Arrival Orientation Seminar (PAOS) at the Chancery on 07 October 2018.

Almost 100 participants, mostly semi-skilled workers and representatives of accredited recruitment agencies, attended the orientation seminar.

Chargé d’ Affaires Pete Raymond V. Delfin welcomed the participants, and gave a brief overview on the role of the Embassy in protecting and promoting the welfare of overseas Filipinos.

Chargé d’ Affaires Delfin advised the participants to directly seek the assistance of the Embassy in securing or renewing work visas, and cautioned the participants against transacting with so-called “agents” to avoid future problems with Brunei immigration laws.

Third Secretary and Vice Consul Jaybee B. Arguillas presented the Embassy’s consular services, while Assistance-to-Nationals (ATN) Officer Mark Arinquin discussed its ATN services.

Labor Attaché Melissa Mendizabal talked on the functions of the Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO) while Welfare Officer Anuar Ampang informed the participants of the programs of the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) office.  Pag-IBIG Fund Representative Edna C. Peñahermoso and Social Security System (SSS) Representative Ms. Joy Ann Cabading oriented the participants on their respective services.

PAOS attendees expressed appreciation to the Embassy for conducting the event regularly, and for providing information on its services for Filipinos in Brunei.

The Embassy conducts PAOS once every quarter, particularly for Household Service Workers. END
