New Omani Identity Card, Resident Card to be Launched Today

The ROP’s Directorate General of Civil Status will launch new Omani ID cards and Resident Cards as part of its modernisation efforts on Sunday.

In a statement, the ROP said that the new cards will be characterised by high security features. “Both the Omani ID cards and Resident Cards will have an additional photograph of the user in the centre of the card. The electronic chip has also been upgraded to store more information on it.”

The ROP has said that the older version of the Omani ID cards and Resident Cards will remain valid till the date of expiry.
