Identifying positive cases of the dreaded COVID-19 has just gotten easier for medical professionals battling it out with the novel coronavirus in Hubei Province, China — the epicenter of the global outbreak.
In a press conference in Geneva, Switzerland, WHO Executive Directory for Health Emergencies Dr. Mike Ryan said medical professionals can now classify a suspected case of COVID-19 through chest imaging; the effects of which will greatly help clinicians in the area.
“This allows clinicians to move and report cases more quickly,” he said.
The WHO announced that there are now 13,332 confirmed cases in Hubei Province. But they clarified that these are all not new cases but rather cases which have been reclassified as suspect cases now being clinically-confirmed. With this development, they can see laboratory and clinical results for patients, particularly in Hubei Province.
