Hyderabad – A spine-chilling story not out of a horror movie but a real life incident where human relations pale into insignificance has come to light in Dubai, where a nephew murdered his aunt after she asked him to return the money borrowed.

A prosecution witness has described how the headless body of a Filipino domestic maid was discovered in the Dubai desert. This led to the arrest of the killer, three months after the murder. The Abu Dhabi Criminal Court of First Instance found that the Filipino butcher had killed his aunt in Musaffah area of Abu Dhabi over a debt of Dh10,000, which she had lent him to arrange his travel to the UAE for work. After killing his aunt, the heartless man dumped the body parts in the desert areas of Dubai and Ajman to cover up his ghastly crime and escape the hands of law.

The victim of murder for money, Manormeeta Salwaro Dadi, worked as a domestic maid for a family in the emirate of Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates (U.A.E).   The murder was accidentally discovered on May 27, 2016 when a Dubai Municipality worker informed the police about finding a headless body in a highly decomposed state. On Thursday last week, a prosecution witness, the Deputy Director of the CID at Dubai Police, told the court that the decomposed body of the Filipina woman was found in a very deserted place in Al Warqa’a on Academy City Road in September 2016.

“The headless body of the woman was found under a tree and in a very quiet place where there were no passers-by,” the officer informed the court. “I rushed to the scene after getting information about a highly decomposed body that has been discovered in the desert. The investigation team removed the body and it was taken for forensic examination. The officer disclosed that the woman’s other body parts were found buried in a desert in Ajman. “And through our secret sources after the investigation team identified the murdered woman, police obtained permission and arrested the man suspected of killing the woman. We arrested the suspected murderer from his residence in Abu Hail area of Dubai, added the police officer.”

According to police investigations, the defendant had borrowed Dh10,000 from the victim and killed her when she demanded him to return her money back. The officer told court that during his interrogations, the man confessed to killing his aunt. The man reportedly told the Dubai Police that he took a cleaver and a knife from his home and drove his friend’s car to Abu Dhabi where he met the woman. He disclosed that he had convinced his aunt to get into the car. Then he drove her to a deserted area in Musaffah area as both of them argued over the money. He admitted to stabbing his aunt multiple times in different parts of her body until the woman succumbed to her injuries.

The man then covered the victim’s body with a towel, wiped the blood splattered on the windshield and drove back to Dubai with the lifeless body. After he reached Dubai, he severed off her head and hands and burnt them. He took the dismembered body parts to a sandy area in Ajman where he buried them. The Filipino, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge of premeditated murder when he appeared in the court.

The trial is adjourned until 23rd May 2017. Meanwhile, the court will reportedly contact the victim’s family and seek their opinion if they pardon the killer in return for Diya or blood money. It depends on how the family reacts to this unfortunate situation as both the victim and the murderer belong to the same family!
