Controversial Hiring of 100,000 Filipino DHs in China is ‘Non-Existent’, Says POEA
Just when news about China’s move to hire 100,000 household service workers (HSWs) started to excite Filipinos, and raised a few eyebrows in China, the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) clarified that the mass hiring is not yet available.
Bernardo Olalia, POEA Officer-in-Charge, Vice Chairman, said the reported mass hiring is not available on the POEA website because China is yet to issue job order for the positions.
“Lahat ng klase ng trabaho nasa website, kung wala, that job is non-existent,’ ABS-CBN quoted Olalia as saying.
According to an earlier report of The Philippine Star, DOLE Undersecretary Dominador Say said the agency is in talks with Chinese government to deploy HSWs in China’s five major cities.
POEA also warns aspiring OFW against fake recruitment websites and social media accounts that use the agency’s name and identity to victimized Filipinos.
