BACOOR CITY, Cavite, Nov. 7 (PNA) — Mayor Lani Mercado-Revilla together with the City Health Office employees, members of City Council, city government employees, 23 village chiefs and volunteers on Monday joined the launching of the “Clean-Up Drive Against Zika Virus” to be implemented in all the villages in the city.

Equipped with brooms, dustpans, tree and leaf cutters, spades, garbage bags and cleaning materials, the group started cleaning the dirty places along the narrow streets beside residences and dirty canals along the roads where the breeding places of mosquitoes are located.

Mayor Revilla said that the city government is coordinating with officials of the Department of Education (DepEd) on information dissemination about Zika virus and will join in their clean- up drive.

It can be recalled that there were three victims of the Zika virus in the city — a 33 year old female and two boys aged 10 and 12 who were under laboratory testing for the virus at the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM) in Muntinlupa City. (PNA)
