(Manila Bulletin, August 7, 2014)
The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) hopes to evacuate more than 2,000 workers composed of 1,637 Filipinos from Tripoli, Benghazi, and Misrata and another 400 employed at Hyundai construction, to be ferried out by their employer, by the end of the week. DFA spokesman ASEC Charles Jose mentioned that the Filipinos will depart Libya via two exit routes – by land travel to Tunisia if they are originating from Tripoli and by ship bound for Malta for those coming from the ports of Benghazi and Misrata. The ship will be arriving on August 10 and 11 respectively.
