42 Israel OFWs returning home Tuesday — DMW
MANILA, Philippines — The sixth batch of Israel-based Filipino workers fleeing the ongoing war is set to arrive in the Philippines on Tuesday, said the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW).
DMW said the sixth batch is made up of 42 Filipino workers.
“The DMW expects more returning overseas Filipino workers as hostilities between Israel’s Defense Forces and Hamas show no signs of toning down in the coming weeks,” said DMW in a statement on Monday.
5th batch
Prior to the arrival of the sixth batch on Tuesday, the Philippine government is also set to welcome 22 Filipinos and one infant from Israel on Monday afternoon.
DMW Officer-in-Charge Hans Leo Cacdac earlier said that the fifth batch of repatriates will arrive at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 at around 3:15 in the afternoon.
“Additionally, the remains of OFW Mary Grace Prodigo-Cabrera will be brought back by her sister Mary June Prodigo who is part of this latest group of returnees,” said Cacdac.
Prodigo-Cabrera was one of four Filipino caregivers who died on the first day of the attacks launched by militant Palestinian group Hamas.
“The return to the country of these two batches this week will bring to a total of 184 the number of OFWs who have come back to the Philippines from Israel,” Cacdac added.
