Robredo to Visit SG, Middle East to Gather OFW Stories for ‘Istorya ng Pag-Asa’ Project

Singapore and the Middle East could be the next destinations of Vice President Leni Robredo as she continues to promote the success stories of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) under her “Istorya ng Pag-asa (Stories of Hope)” project.
Robredo said she is “exploring options” to visit the two countries this year after her trip to South Korea, where she was speaker at the Universal Peace World Summit.
“May naka-schedule kaming Istorya ng Pag-asa (INP). Gusto nating iikot sa mga lugar na maraming mga Pilipino,” Robredo, a former Camarines Sur representative, said.
(We have Stories of Hope events lined up. We want to go around areas where there are many Filipinos.)
The Office of the Vice President (OVP) initiated the INP project to feature real-life stories of hope of OFWs who have risen above adversity and are enduring sources of hope, inspiration, and motivation for their fellow Filipinos.
Over her three and half years in office, Robredo has gone to the United States, Hong Kong, Canada, Germany, Australia, and United Kingdom as part of the INP project.
In the Philippines, the vice president led the opening of the INP photo gallery in 30 cities and municipalities.
Before traveling to the Middle East and Singapore, Robredo was set to return to Hong Kong next month, but she had to postpone her scheduled trip in the wake of the coronavirus threat.
“The event in Hong Kong was set for March. So we may move it to May or June,” she earlier said in Filipino. “We will push through with it, we will just let this [situation] finish.”
Robredo’s INP project has gathered and featured inspiring and success stories of more than 400 Filipinos here and abroad.
