Two Filipino domestic workers died in unrelated incidents in Hong Kong a few days before Christmas. According to officials from the Philippine Consulate in Hong Kong, Myla Sheila Caseno Soriao, 41, was taking her ward to a tutorial class on December 1 when she suffered a stroke and was taken to the North District Hospital in Sheung Shui, hongkongnews.com reported.
Soriao, who had worked in Hong Kong for 11 years, died before dawn on Friday after she suffered cardiac arrest at the hospital.
Meanwhile, another Filipino woman, 60, identified only by the initials JC, was found dead in her friend’s home in Sai Kung on Thursday. Police are still investigating the cause of death and are not sure if she was a domestic worker as investigators said she was unemployed.
Consul General Antonio Morales urged Filipino migrant workers in Hong Kong to take good care of their health after the Consulate noticed an increase in the number of Filipinos suffering strokes.
