2 Asian Maids in UAE Accused of Stealing Jewellery Worth Dh300,000
Three maids, including two Filipinas, have been charged with stealing jewellery worth Dh 300,000 (approximately P4.2-M) from their sponsor, an Emirati woman.
According to a news report from Khaleej Times, prosecution records presented to presiding judge Mahmoud Akber show that the three maids were liable to stealing gold and jewellery from the Emirati.
Alcoholic drinks were reported found as well in the maids’ possession.
The Emirati woman lodged a complaint against the three maids after she found out that some of her jewellery had been stolen from her room safe.
A security team, formed immediately after the complaint was filed, probed the crime scene.
Upon searching the maids’ quarters, police found bottles of alcohol in their cupboards. The maids were then arrested.
The three maids denied the allegations and pleaded not guilty during their arraignment on Monday, April 2.
Meanwhile, the court has adjourned the hearing until April 16.
