120 Immigration Officers Headed to NAIA to Ease Long Lines

MANILA – Some 120 immigration officers will be deployed to the three terminals of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport, where a work stoppage has caused long passenger queues, the airport manager said Thursday.

Flag carrier Philippine Airlines has advised passengers of outgoing international flights to be at the airport five hours ahead of departure in anticipation of the lines.

The additional immigration officers will be redeployed to NAIA from the bureau’s main office, said Manila International Airport Authority General Manager Ed Monreal.

Monreal advised passengers to be at the airport three hours ahead instead of five, to avoid shifting the long lines to the check in counters.

Airport authorities will provide free water to those who will be stuck in long lines, he said.

Construction in runways have also been suspended in the next two weeks to maximize the use of facilities, Antonio Tamayo, Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines deputy director general, said
