NDRRMC: Habagat Death Toll Rises to 13; Number of Displaced Individuals at 17k

Thirteen people have died and and more than 55,000 families were affected in six regions due to heavy rains caused by the enhanced southwest monsoon, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said Wednesday.

In its situation report as of 8 a.m., the NDRRMC said six have been injured while nine others are missing from Regions III, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, VI, and NCR.

The four additional fatalities were identified as Felix Mendoza Catapang, Leonida Andrin Catapang, and Jamaica Delaney Catapang from the town of Nasugbu in Batangas; and Zaldy Incognito Gloriani from Gen. E. Aguinaldo, Cavite.

The NDRRMC said 4,487 families or 17,896 individuals were displaced and presently located in 77 designated evacuation centers.

In terms of flooding, the NDRRMC said there are no longer reported flooding in Metro Manila, Cavite, and Rizal except in the town of San Mateo where flood reached up to seven feet.

As of 11 a.m., weather bureau PAGASA said the southwest monsoon will continue to bring moderate to occasionally heavy rains over the Ilocos Region and Benguet province.

The regions of Central Luzon, Cagayan Valley, and the rest of Cordillera Administrative Region, meanwhile, will experience light to moderate rains and isolated thuderstorms. — RSJ, GMA News
