Phone Snatcher Faces Prosecution in Dubai
DUBAI: A Pakistani worker snatched a mobile phone from a woman in Dubai and scared her not to shout for help, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.
At around 6.30am on December 28, RK, 38, a Filipina teacher, was going to catch metro to go to her work. When she reahed Abu Bakr Al Siddiq Street, someone held her left shoulder and turned her towards him before snatching her mobile phone that was in her hand and pushed her.
“As I fell, I started shouting and screaming while the attacker was running away. All of a sudden he turned back and hit me with his hands in which he was holding my mobile. I got scared and stayed on the floor for a while, seeing him walking away slowly.
“ Then I decided and started walking after him. When I saw some people, I asked them for help. They ran after him and caught him,” said the woman.
The woman then approached the snatcher and asked her attacker about her mobile. He threw it in a garbage bin.
Ten minutes later police arrived and arrested MY, 25, the court heard.
The court will give a verdict on March 16.
