Maid Suspected to have Poisoned a Family in Sharjah
SHARJAH: A maid is facing investigation after an Emirati family, exhibiting symptom of food poisoning, was admitted to a hospital in Sharjah.
Six members of the Emirati family were admitted to the hospital on Friday morning as they felt unwell after having their breakfast, Gulf News quoted an official at Sharjah Police.
A 47-year-old man, his wife, 42, and his four children — three girls, aged 18,14 and seven, and an 11-month-old baby boy — were affected, the report said.
They were admitted to the hospital’s emergency section, complaining of nausea, dizziness and vomiting, a hospital source reportedly said.
The head of the family told hospital staff the family suspects their maid of having put pesticide into their food, reported Gulf News.
The husband and wife were discharged after their condition improved. The children remain in hospital, the report said.
Al Siouh Police station is investigating the case.
