REDWOOD CITY, California – U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement deported a Filipino suspected of human rights violations in the Philippines.

Regor Cadag Aguilar arrived in the Philippines on Wednesday, less than two months after he was arrested by ICE officers in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Aguilar came to the U.S. in 2001, overstayed his visitor visa, and was placed in removal proceedings.

In the proceedings, he acknowledged that from 1998 to 2001 he was a surveillance agent in the Philippines that targeted rival politicians.

Aguilar also testified that his surveillance information was used to abduct and murder political figures.

The operation was conducted by ICE’s Human Rights Violators and War Crimes Center that investigates human rights violators who try to evade justice by seeking shelter in the United States.
