Bisaya-Speaking German in Berlin Donuts Shop

A video of a German national has gone viral, charming a lot of Filipino netizens because of his fluency in speaking Bisaya.

The said viral video was posted by AsninPendatun on his Facebook account.

Pendatun was travelling Berlin with his fellow pupils when they met Norman in a doughnut store in Holocaust Memorial.Pendatun and his group were talking in their dialect when Norman — who works at the shop — joined in on their conversation and asked them in Tagalog if they were Filipinos.

At that point, Norman told Pendatun and his group that he used to reside in Cebu for 20 years before moving back to his native country just eight months ago. To bring his point, he then started talking in perfect Bisaya which Pendatun recorded.

In the video, Pendatun can be heard asking whether Norman plans to go back to Cebu; with the German responding he may return for a vacation in 2017.

Norman also shared how he studied and graduated from Cebu Doctors’ University with a degree in psychology. Unfortunately, he was required in Germany to do another two years of schooling to get his units credited.

With no funds or time for school, Norman said he had to find work to support himself.

“Baligya sad ta’g donuts, kwarta sad ta gamay,” he told Pendatun and his group.

The video quickly went viral after it was uploaded; with the Filipino online communities praising Norman for being able to speak a local dialect like a real native.

The video has gathered more than 16 thousand reactions, 12 thousand shares, and counting.
