Filipina Helps Cage Student in Dubai for Burgling Pharmacy

DUBAI: A Filipina saleswoman helped in the arrest and three-month imprisonment of a student who tied a torch to his head, snuck into a pharmacy in Dubai, and robbed medicines worth Dhs1,226.

The Emirati youth MY, 20, along with a Sudanese peer AH, 20 connived with fugitive accomplices to raid a pharmacy in Marina on the night of May 3. MY entered while the rest kept a watch outside, reported Gulf Today.

He used a piece of metal to lift the pharmacy’s rolling door, entered and snatched several containers of medicine. AH was awarded the same punishment plus deportation, the report said.

At around 7.30am that day, a Filipina saleswoman discovered the pharmacy had been targeted. She reviewed surveillance footage and saw MY, the Criminal Court reportedly heard.

An Emirati lieutenant reportedly said surveillance footage showed MY strolling inside the pharmacy during working hours while looking from side to side and examining some of the medicines.

He returned at around 2am with a small torch tied to his head and a piece of metal in his hand. He rolled the door up, entered and collected the medicines. He rolled it back and fled the scene, said the Sharjah-based news portal.

Upon his arrest, MY revealed he committed the robbery with the help of fugitive cohorts. He also confessed during prosecution and court questioning, reported Gulf Today.
