DUBAI: A driver has allegedly kidnapped a secretary and raped her before the woman tested positive for HIV, the Dubai Court of First Instance recently heard.

The 23-year-old Pakistani driver, R.J., was said to have lured the 24-year-old Filipina secretary to his car after offering her a ride to a mall in Deira in December, reported Gulf News.

Then he diverted his car to Al Ghusais where he stopped in a deserted area and raped the woman before stealing her belongings, the report said.

Shortly after the woman reported the matter to the police, according to prosecution records, medical examinations confirmed that she tested positive for HIV, it added.

Prosecutors reportedly accused the suspect of kidnapping the secretary, raping her using physical violence and stealing her money and valuables.

The Pakistani pleaded not guilty and refuted all his accusations when he showed up before the Dubai Court of First Instance, it was pointed out.

“No, I did not kidnap or rape her,” R.J. reportedly told presiding judge Fahd Al Shamsi.

According to the charge sheet, prosecutors said the defendant took the woman to a deserted place in Al Ghusais Industrial Area where he forced himself on her in the back seat of his vehicle.

He also stole her Dh500 and make up set, phones and personal papers, said the Dubai-based news portal.

The secretary reportedly claimed to prosecutors that she received an SMS from the suspect who asked to meet her at Dubai Financial Centre.

“I work for a company that promotes products online. When he arrived by car, he offered to discuss business in his vehicle. He drove while discussing business until he reached Al Ghusais and suddenly parked the car. He asked me to remain silent when I asked him why he had stopped.

“Then he pushed me to the rear seat where he had forced sex with me. He kept his hand on my mouth prevent me from shouting while he raped me without protection. Then he asked me to put my clothes on and to move to the front seat. I stepped out of the car and when I tried to open the front passenger door to sit, he tried to move. I threw myself quickly into the car and asked him to give me back my purse. He tried to take it back but I clutched it and hurt his shoulder while trying to prevent him from keeping the purse … then he pushed me out of the car,” she reportedly testified.

A police corporal reportedly testified to prosecutors that the defendant was arrested after the secretary provided them with his contact number.

“During questioning, he alleged that he had consensual sex with the Filipina. The woman’s iPhone was also found in his possession … he claimed that he took her purse because she had failed to repay him some money that he lent her earlier,” he claimed.

Records were quoted as saying an Egyptian man found the woman kneeling on a pavement and crying miserably and informed the police.

The court will appoint a lawyer to defend the suspect when it reconvenes next month, reported Gulf News.
