Filipino Dies of Heat Stroke
RIYADH: The Philippine Embassy called on Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) to be more careful while working in the Kingdom due to deaths recently that include a community leader in Buraidah in Qassim.
Omar Balindong, who was connected with a local firm and a correspondent of The Filipino Channel (TFC), was pronounced dead on arrival at a hospital in Qassim last Saturday. “Filipinos working in the Kingdom should take care of their health, especially now that it’s summer. They should also drink sufficient amount of water,” Ambassador Ezzedin H. Tago told Arab News.
He said that Balindong died of heat stroke. “They are also prone to heart attack due to the fatty food they eat. For this reason, they have to exercise regularly to burn fat,” he said.
Balindong had just played a round of basketball and while resting he looked pale. He was rushed to the hospital but pronounced dead on arrival. His remains are in a local hospital while his colleagues are coordinating with the Philippine Embassy for his repatriation to the Philippines.
Yesterday, another Filipino, Antonio Manzano, also died because he fell off a bridge in Buraidah. He was working for a local construction firm and came from Pampanga province.

Four days ago, another Filipino, Genaro Manuel of Pampanga, also died in vehicular accident. He had just reported to their office and was going home to his family in Buraidah when the accident took place.
