Abu Dhabi Gets New Boarding Pass System
ABU DHABI: A new system that will automatically validate passengers’ boarding passes will become operational from next month at Terminal 3 in Abu Dhabi International Airport, thereby decreasing waiting period, and long queues.
Airport chiefs were quoted as saying by The National that the system, the first technology of its kind in the region, will improve security, speed up passenger processing, and cut waiting times by automatically verifying boarding passes.
There will be four security lanes with automatic gates, pass scanners and hand-held wireless pass scanners.
Ahmad Al Haddabi, chief operations officers at Abu Dhabi Airports, reportedly said the system would maintain the balance between continuous passenger flow, and stringent security measures.
“The task is even more important in view of our continued growth. With newly deployed technology using self-service features, verifying passenger documentation will be done quickly and efficiently, while improving passenger experience,” he reportedly said.
The system will ensure passengers are at the correct terminal and security checkpoint. It will automatically validate their data and check departure timings, the report said.
The information will then be displayed on a touch-screen monitor in seconds, The National reported.
