77 Pinoy Repatriates to Arrive from Libya
MANILA – A total of 77 Filipino repatriates from Libya will be arriving in two batches in Manila, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said.
The first batch of 46 Filipinos will arrive at 4 p.m. Friday, on board Emirates flight EK 332, while the second batch of 31 Pinoys will be arriving at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport at 3:10 p.m. on Sunday, March 1.
“These repatrriates departed from Tripoli to Tunis via Ras Jedier border on February 25,” the DFA said.
The latest arrivals will bring the total number of Filipino repatriates from Libya to an estimated 4,233.
The DFA and the embassy in Tripoli continue to appeal to Filipinos remaining in Libya to register for repatriation due to the volatile security situation in that country.
“The security situation in Libya has rapidly deteriorated in the past few weeks due to the ongoing civil strife and the recent air strikes conducted by other countries against armed groups,” said the DFA.
An estimated 4,000 Filipinos remain in Libya and repatriation efforts ahve become more dangerous and difficult, considering that no foreign carrier is currently flying to Libya.
The next repatriation operation is scheduled on March 8.
Filipinos in Libya are advised to immediately contact the embassy team in Tripoli at +218927471949, +2189161555264, and +218916656134.
“The DFA and our embassy in Tripoli also appeal to the families of OFWs to encourage their loved ones in Libya to return home to safety,” the DFA said.
